While working on a recent Adventure People project, I discovered that Fisher Price made some tribute Adventure People figures in their 20th anniversary Imaginext line! This one is called FP-636, a homage to their X-Ray Man figure from 1978. These things are awesome, and still sort of cheap to get in 2023.
The figures came in these boxes with great artwork and a velcro cover.
The beautiful art was done by artist Jordan Gibson.
The figure is a great homage to the original X-Ray man, just in a differernt scale. The green is just a little lighter than the original. I thought the 636 was a nod to the original figure's number, as all Fisher Price toys had numbers assigned to them back in the day. But sadly this is not the case, and I don't know where the 636 comes from at this time. X-Ray man's number is 381.
The chest design is the same, with the addition of the ridged area on the abdomen. The belt is the same, and he even has bare feet, just like the original!
He's packed with a rather large weapon. While it is shown as a pistol on the package, I think it also works well as a shoulder missile launcher!
Here he is next to his big brother!
One can't underestimate how influential Adventure People were in the history of Action Figures. But more on that later...
