Last week NECA dropped a surprise reveal and pre-order with the Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet Ultimate figure. This took many people including myself by surprise as in the past NECA has only done static figures of musicians like John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, and Freddie Mercury and recently dabbled in doing Retro-Style figures which have been very successful with figures of Elton John, AC/DC & Willie Nelson.
The musician figures must sell very well to go into the Ultimates line. The first figure is Bon Jovi from Slippery When Wet tour. I think the likeness is pretty close to how he looked in the mid-1980s with the big hair and colorful outfit. It’s a very well-sculpted figure and I really love the details in his outfit, it’s great to see NECA using the interchangeable face plate technology again. He comes with all the right accessories that he should come with including a stylish guitar with a strap and a microphone and interchangeable hands to use both accessories.
I must admit I am unfamiliar with Bon Jovi outside the big hits. I pre-ordered the figure here in the UK because I’m really intrigued by the figure and it’s really unique. I would love to see other musicians such as David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix get figures in a similar style to this one. The figure is expected to come out next spring and is up for pre-order from all good retailers now.
