“Hey kid, you are not supposed to be here!“

Finally got around to unpack the 5POA figures from the Star Wars Rebels series for Han, Leia and Luke in Endor outfits. Released in 2015 they have been lingering in their blisters for 8 years and moved from one shelf and apartment and city and country to the next just to take more space than they should. Of course the recently released TVC Endor bunker playset provided a good opportunity for them to finally smell some air. A few words on figures as well as set:

At the time of the release of the SWR figures, most people seemed to hate that they were 5POA. I liked the figures as they gave off a vintage vibe in a modernized version but at the same time wasn’t happy that I added an unexpected lot of figures to my collection that I originally didn’t plan to buy. Some figures work better in 5POA, like e.g. white Princess Leia. Trench Coat Han here is surprisingly convincing, too. But I am not sure if these figures have passed the test of time as well as their super articulated counterparts from a few years earlier.

The playset looks great and the two pairs of blast doors slide smoothly, the assembly however is more complex than that of previous sets. Especially the disassembly and re-boxing will be a challenge. I am mostly worried about some pegs that may break off on disassembly. We shall see. While previous playsets like the Tantive IV, Jabba’s Palace, Carbonite Freezing Chamber, or even the Nevarro Cantina were designed to work best when being combined with multiple sets of the same kind, this set seems to be standalone, which is great.
