In this session of the #MentalHealthMonday Recovery Edition series, Hannah Sharkey will introduce what is diet culture, how it shows up in our world, and the significant impacts it has on every human, specifically rolling into a new year when diet culture is rampant.
From a neutral nutrition lens with an all food fits approach, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Clinical Dietitian Training Specialist Hannah Sharkey of Eating Recovery Center will:
Discuss the importance of adequate nourishment with a variety of food groups and provide examples of ways to get curious around food. Identify, explore, and discuss the importance of food and body neutrality and how to incorporate in our day-to-day lives. Define anti-fat bias and weight stigma and discuss the stigmatizing language related to weight and bodies.Join us LIVE for a Q & A session following the presentation.
About Hannah Sharkey, RDN, LDN, CEDS (she/her)
Hannah Sharkey is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Clinical Dietitian Training Specialist with Eating Recovery Center and Pathlight Mood and Anxiety Center. She has experience working with folx with eating disorders and disordered eating patterns at multiple levels of care (inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient). In addition, she provides outpatient care through her private practice, H. Sharkey Nutrition. Hannah utilizes a food and weight neutral approach in her patient care. She believes fiercely in promoting and providing equal and quality care for folx of all ability levels, body shapes and sizes, genders, and race. When she is not debunking diet culture, you can find her playing board games, listening to live music, or snuggled up with her sassy cat, ‘Honey Butter’.
