Exciting news!
We have two cool things going on in Victoria tomorrow.
On the exact one year anniversary of BCNDP Education Minister Rob Fleming’s promise to ADHD students in BC’s public school to stop the discrimination and add ADHD to special education so they can get accommodations and #IEPsForADHD, (was December 4th 2018) we will have two rare treats.
One. A politician fulfilling his campaign promise AND doing something for people with ADHD in BC. No, really, it’s true.
Victoria School Board Trustee @ryanlpainter will ask the Victoria School Board to ask Rob Fleming when he’ll fulfill his year old promise to add ADHD as a stand condition in special education so they get accommodations and #IEPsForADHD.
Two. A parent with two boys with ADHD, Sandra, who has the courage to speak in public about ADHD and do so at a meeting of the Victoria School Board on #IEPsForADHD.
Its is not often that you get one of these things happening for people with ADHD in BC, let alone two, and two in one night in one place.
Victoria is also BCNDP Education Minister’s Rob Flemings riding.
If you know anyone who cares about ADHD in the Victoria area, please let them know about this and encourage them to tell others and come out to listen and support both of them tomorrow (better late than never).
Monday, December 3rd at the Tolmie Building Board Room 556 Boleskine Rd, Victoria, BC at 7 pm.
Context is we got 37 BC School Board Trustee candidates to support our #IEPsForADHD campaign to promise to ask BCNDP Education Minister Rob Fleming when he will fulfill his year old promise to ADHD students in BC, December 4, 2018 to add ADHD as a stand alone condition in special education so they can get accommodations and #IEPsForADHD , that was originally proposed but not completed by the BC Liberal government, and having 17 of them elected
A politician who is actually fulfilling his campaign promise! AND helping ADHD students!
Victoria School Board Trustee Ryan Painter. Twitter: @ryanlpainter , Facebook, Website ryanpainter.ca who supported ADHD students in BC and our #IEPsForADHD campaign, will propose a resolution on #IEPsForADHD for the Victoria School Board at the Education Policy and Directions Committee Meeting. Will Be at the Tolmie Building Board Room 556 Boleskine Rd, Victoria, BC.
C6. 9:05 – 9:15 pm
ADHD Designation
Trustee Painter
That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) direct the Board Chair to write a letter to the Minister of Educationrequesting a timeline on when the Minister will add ADHD as a standalone designation in special education in order to streamline receiving accommodations and IEPs.
Here’s Ryan Painter’s promise to ask BC education minister Rob Fleming when he will fulfill his promise to give ADHD students in BC #IEPsForADHD which shall be fulfilled tomorrow.
We had 5 Victoria School Board Trustees Candidates who said yes to #IEPsForADHD. All 5 were elected.
The Resolution need to pass the education policy committee meeting and then the full school board. Since a majority of the board, 5 out of the 9 members supported our #IEPsForADHD campaign, I hope it will pass.
But you can always politely encourage the Victoria school board trustees to do so, and thank Ryan Painter for fulfilling his campaign promise and helping BC’s ADHD students.

Second we will have Sandra a parent of two boys with ADHD in Victoria’s public school will do a presentation to the Victoria School Board education policy committee meeting on ADHD Students in BC Schools and our #IEPsForADHD campaign.
Sandra had a lot of troubles getting a diagnosis for her two boys with ADHD and getting help in school and she will talk about their struggles and why it’s important that the 43,105 to 53,882 ADHD students in BC schools (8-10% of total number of students in BC’s public schools) get accommodations and #IEPsForADHD.
Sandra is a very dynamic and passionate speaker and I’m sure you will enjoy her presentation and her Q & A from the education policy committee.
One of the reasons students with ADHD in BC schools keep getting discriminated against and we don’t have a designation for ADHD in special education so we can get accommodations and #IEPsForADHD is that parents with ADHD complain about the problems for their ADHD children to those like me who work with people with ADHD (I don’t coach ADHD students in high school or university, just entrepreneurs with ADHD and ADHD adults in the work force and relationships) but they don’t complain to politicians, or the media.
And when I ask the politicians and the media why they keep neglecting people with ADHD they say if it was a real problem people would complain to them and they don’t so they don’t think it’s much of a problem.
That’s why it’s so important that Sandra has the courage to talk about ADHD in the school system, I hope her courage will inspire other parents of ADHD children to talk about ADHD to politicians and reporters so things will improve for ADHD students in BC.
Again, please if you know anyone who cares about ADHD in the Victoria area, please let them know about this and encourage them to tell others and come out to support both of them tomorrow (better late than never), Monday, December 3rd at the Tolmie Building Board Room 556 Boleskine Rd, Victoria, BC at 7 pm.
