Meet Leah, a funny, quirky, and introverted 13-year-old. Her favorite subject in school is science and her favorite activity is softball.

Outside of school, Leah enjoys shopping, playing sports, making arts and crafts, hanging out with friends, fishing, and gaming. She is also a big fan of Minnesota sports teams and loves getting out to support her favorite teams.

Leah loves the outdoors and being in the company of just about any animal. Whenever she is in the company of animals, she always has a big smile on her face.

Leah’s ideal forever home would be a two-parent household, in a suburban or rural setting, with siblings who are toddler-age or older and with pets in the home. She is looking forward to experiencing stability and not having to move anymore. It will be important for Leah’s family to help support her birth family connections – many of whom live in the Twin Cities Metro Area. Leah’s wellbeing can best be supported by helping her maintain regular visits and communication with her biological family members.

Leah was recently with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), so it will be essential that her future family be trauma-informed, knowledgeable about ASD and parenting youth with this diagnosis, and willing to provide her with the support needed to help her pursue her dreams and goals. (Fun fact: Leah hopes to become a scriptwriter for a TV when she’s older!)

“Leah is excited for her forever family and is eager to have a restart,” says Colleen her Child Specific Recruiter. “She hopes for a family who is willing to support her in her sports ambitions and maintain relationships with her birth family and friends. Leah presents mild to moderate needs and will need frequent reminders to do daily tasks. The right family for Leah will be patient and encouraging and committed to helping her thrive.”

Details to Note

Due to contracts with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the cost of adopting a child from Minnesota foster care is virtually free to families.
