Game Parks of Africa

The Africa Safari Co. ran one of their annual Game Parks of Africa tours in September 2023.

We started with a full-day guided tour of Nairobi, experiencing many of the city’s philanthropic and conservation highlights with a dose of history and culture. We also enjoyed a visit to the Giraffe Centre; the old Karen Blixen farmhouse from “Out of Africa” fame – now a museum; as well as the Kazuri Beads Factory.

We then spent a couple of nights in Amboseli National Park, famed for having one of the finest views of Africa’s tallest peak – Mt Kilimanjaro. The wildlife was abundant, with a strong presence of Elephants, but the area was very dry and dusty from being in drought for quite some time.

We then crossed the border from Kenya into Tanzania, and headed for Lake Manyara for another two nights. Sightings of beautiful birds and wildlife was common and the accommodation at Lake Manyara Serena was beautiful.

Next we headed to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, visiting the famous Ngorongoro Crater (classed as a mixed World Heritage Site of natural and cultural significance) for a full day game drive. When leaving the area we called into Olduvai Gorge, which is regarded as having the earliest record of mankind’s existence and a really interesting and informative visit.

We spent three nights in the Western Serengeti at Lahia Tented Lodge. Wow, this place has left some very fond memories. Stunning location and accommodation, pool, food and staff really made this place a highlight. We spent time traversing the park to see the awesome wildlife that the Serengeti had to offer. Just amazing.

Our last three nights were spent in the Masai Mara. This place, and it’s wildlife never lets you down. One the way to our lodge after entering the Mara Triangle, we came across a Rhino and calf and an awesome Lion sighting. And that was just getting to the lodge. We enjoyed the Masai Mara immensely, with some of the group opting for the Balloon Safari, then enjoying a Hippo Breakfast the next day and as I said, Wildlife galore !!

Please enjoy some of our photos from the trip below.

Tour Dates:  07 – 21 September 2023
