It is very important to opt for beaches that have family-friendly amenities. These include playgrounds, kiddies toilets and showers, as well as sun loungers.

Being in a family-friendly environment that is accommodative will ensure that everybody enjoys themselves to the fullest.

Go early in the morning or late in the afternoon

Plan a morning of blissful beach time or go in the afternoon just in time to catch the sunset.

Whatever your preference, the aim is simply to ensure that you are not at the beach in the middle of the day when the UV rays are at their strongest. This is because the sun can be very harsh on your children’s skin. Also, don’t forget the sunscreen!

Hydrate

Staying hydrated is essential. On warm summer days, one can be extremely thirsty. Babies and young children are at a higher risk of getting dehydrated at the beach.

Thus, ensure that you pack lots of drinking water for them. You can also pack fruit that is high in water content such as watermelon, strawberries and peaches.

Prioritise Water Safety

Being safe at the beach includes considering where and when you will be playing in the water. Show your children how to enter and play in the water, ensuring that you watch them at all times.

Avoid swimming near piers and other permanent structures. Moreover, it is important to always swim around the area which is protected by lifeguards. If there are waves or strong currents, keep children close to the shore and within reach.

First Aid

Unfortunately, accidents can happen at any time. As such, it is best to be safe rather than sorry. Be prepared for minor injuries by carrying a first aid kit which includes the basics such as plasters, bandages and painkillers.
