Indonesia originating, now London based R&B, blues and soul newcomer LEDI shines on the new single ‘Lie’. Now returning with a live video, the singer-songwriter showcases her soaring vocals in style.

A blues ballad hailed as both a solace but also an anthem of strength, ‘Lie’ seamlessly blends elements of varying influences across R&B, soul, jazz, gospel, and contemporary pop to create a moving and affecting yet ultimately defiant track.

Working with renowned producer Irfan Chasmala (producer & pianist known for his work with an array of famous indonesian artists including Once Mekel, Krisdayanti, Glen Fredly, d’Masiv & Reza Artamevia), the single brings together swaying drums, twinkling keys, grounding bass in a gradually building rich musical backdrop. LEDI’s silky, emotive and effortlessly spell binding lead vocals take centre stage as she delivers a stirring, emotive vocal performance.

As the track gradually grows throughout, the track reaches a euphoric crescendo in the latter third as the track undergoes a key change and LEDI’s vocals soar high above the gospel-esque chorus of harmonies.

Speaking about the track LEDI explains: “Lie was written back in 2018 inspired by my solitary, contemplative walk along London’s South Bank by the river Thames, after being lied to and two-timed by someone that I cared about and thought loved me dearly. The song reflects my state of mind and mixed emotions during the walk as I pondered, thought about the times we shared and tried to navigate through my heartbreak from the betrayal. I realised everything we shared was ‘all a lie’ as soon as I found out that he lied to me and I was not his only one.

The song explores my melancholy, anger and eventually the realisation, confidence and acceptance that I’ll be wiser, stronger and fine without him around. The song ends with me letting go and on a path to healing and independence.

I initially wrote Lie for a uni portfolio assignment that I rushed because I only started writing it 4 hours before my deadline. I’m so pleased Irfan, along with everyone else involved with the release, saw a lot of potential in the song and now it’s out for the world to hear!”

Having recorded at renowned studios Abbey Road Studios and Angel Studios and played packed out shows across London, LEDI is no stranger to success. LEDI’s footprint in the a cappella world cannot be underestimated. For five years, she has journeyed through various performances, competitions, and festivals in the UK, US, and Europe as a vocalist for both The Rolling Tones and LowKey including performances at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, tours across the UK, Europe and the US West Coast as well as headlining Germany’s esteemed Black Forest Voices festival. Having also won multiple awards including ‘Best Vocal Group’ at Italy’s Solevoci Festival and being recognized as the “Outstanding Vocalist” at the Warwick Open A Cappella Competition in 2020, LEDI has already made a name for herself on a national scale.
