I am very excited to announce the release of a new course at Scaled Agile, SAFe for Hardware. Industries building hardware systems, including aerospace, automotive, defense, and medical, to name a few, are being disrupted by digital technologies. Digital modeling and simulation, digital rapid prototyping, and digital manufacturing dramatically reduce the delivery and feedback cycles for hardware development. The traditional methods and practices used to build these systems struggle in this new, fast-paced environment. This course shows leaders how to apply Lean-Agile and SAFe principles and practices to hardware development.

The course targets executives, managers, and other leaders who must understand the new approach before implementing it in their organization. They will learn how to:

  • Design systems for change, think in smaller batches and establish faster feedback cycles
  • Build effective, cross-function teams and ARTs that include hardware roles
  • Continuously address risk, regulatory, and quality concerns
  • Align suppliers to the Lean-Agile way of working

While this course is a leadership course, it has little overlap with Leading SAFe. Leading SAFe focuses on the SAFe practices that plan for and optimize the current PI and address portfolio concerns. SAFe for Hardware shows how to achieve agility in hardware by designing systems for change, building a hardware continuous delivery pipeline, addressing long term planning needs, and evolving specifications. Individuals who have taken Leading SAFe will also benefit from SAFe for Hardware and vice versa.

We are excited to release this new course so organizations can adopt SAFe and Lean-Agile ways of working in their context and not be left behind. Register now on the Training Calendar.

Stay SAFe!
