Welcome to our weekly video review on hotel rooms and suites around the world! This week’s edition features the Junior Suite, a 39 to 47 sq.m. / 420 to 506 sq.ft. open plan suite with a balcony at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand hotel in Paris, France.

Le Grand Hotel opened its doors in 1862 in central Paris as part of the significant urban renovations occurring in the city at that time. Initially touted as the “largest hotel in the world,” it boasted 800 guestrooms and suites. The iconic Café de la Paix is situated on the ground floor.
Since 1981, the hotel has been operated under the Intercontinental Hotels brand. Over the years, it has undergone two extensive renovations, both overseen by French interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon. The first renovation, spanning from 1985 to 1990, resulted in a reduction of the room count to 470, including 72 suites. This transformation aimed to provide larger and more spacious accommodations, including expanded bathrooms. The second renovation, recently completed last year, led to the hotel’s reopening in summer 2022 with completely redesigned interiors. These renovations not only aimed to preserve the historical charm of the hotel but also introduced contemporary elements to enhance the guest experience.
Inspired by the ballet and the opera, our Junior Suites are beautifully decorated: mirrors, leather headboard and velvet armchair bring a resolutely modern style. They have a superb bathroom with an antique bathtub and an Italian shower. Ideal for relaxing during a Parisian getaway.
This property offers a range of Junior Suites, each with its own configuration. Some lean more towards the premium room size though, and this one is an example… While the space is undoubtedly charming, it might feel a bit tight for those expecting the expansive feel typically associated with a suite. However, being in central Paris, smaller room sizes are a common feature across the board.
