The carrier's 747s have wound up in some interesting places.
According to data from Planespotters.net, United States legacy carrier Delta Air Lines once had up to 31 different Boeing 747s in its fleet across decades of operations. Unlike most other major US international airlines, the Boeing 747 came to Delta in two separate periods. Initially, the carrier operated a small fleet of five Boeing 747-100s which were retired early due to the 1970s oil crisis and quickly replaced by the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar.
