The Bilt Mastercard® (review) is a valuable no annual fee card that I recently picked up. The card lets you pay your rent by credit card and earn rewards, even if your landlord doesn’t ordinarily allow no-fee credit card payments. For us homeowners, you can potentially even pay your HOA this way.
There are many innovative things about Bilt, including that there’s a Bilt Rent Day promotion on the first day of each month. The Bilt Rent Day promotion for January 2024 has just been announced. This potentially offers some amazing ways to redeem Bilt points, as well as a credit with Lyft.
Details of the January Bilt Rent Day promotion
There are a few aspects to the Bilt Rent Day promotion, including the ability to earn bonus points (which is the same every month) plus two additional promotions.
Note that Bilt Rent Day promotions are generally valid from 12:00AM ET until 11:59PM PT, so technically you have around 27 hours to take advantage of them.
Earn 2-6x Bilt points on Rent Day purchases
Ordinarily the Bilt Mastercard earns 1-3x points per dollar spent, as you earn 3x points on dining, 2x points on travel, and 1x points on all other purchases. On the first day of each month, you earn double those rewards, meaning you earn 6x points on dining, 4x points on travel, and 2x points on all other purchases (except rent, where you earn 1x points).
With this offer, you can earn up to 10,000 bonus points each month. Keep in mind that you need to use your Bilt Mastercard five times each statement period in order to earn these points. It could be worth strategically making some purchases on the first day of each month to maximize this as much as possible.

We’ve frequently seen Bilt offer transfer bonuses on Rent Day, and the January 2024 Rent Day promotion possibly has the most exciting offer yet. On January 1, 2024, you can receive a 75-150% transfer bonus with Air France-KLM Flying Blue, IHG One Rewards, and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.
The percent bonus you receive depends on your Bilt elite status, as follows:
Bilt Blue status offers a 75% transfer bonus Bilt Silver status offers a 100% transfer bonus Bilt Gold status offers a 125% transfer bonus Bilt Platinum status offers a 150% transfer bonusThis is an incredible promotion. Based on my valuation of points, I definitely wouldn’t take advantage of this for IHG One Rewards. However, this could be a great deal for Air France-KLM Flying Blue or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, as both programs offer a lot of amazing redemption opportunities. I think this could be worth a speculative transfer.

Receive $5 Lyft credit
On January 1, 2024, those with the Bilt Mastercard will be able to activate a $5 ride credit with Lyft. Just make sure that your Lyft and Bilt accounts are linked on January 1, and select “Activate credits” in the Bilt app on the Rent Day tab. You’ll see your Lyft credit under “Lyft Pass” in the payment section of the Lyft app within 72 hours of activating. The credit is then valid for 90 days.
Bottom line
On the first day of each month, those with the Bilt Mastercard can take advantage of the monthly Rent Day promotion. In addition to earning up to double points for purchases, for January 2024, there’s the opportunity to receive a 75-150% transfer bonus to Air France-KLM Flying Blue, IHG One Rewards, or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. On top of that, you can receive a $5 Lyft credit. This has the potential to be a fantastic deal.
