Cathay Pacific offering 10% bonus on credit card transfers
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is offering a 10% transfer bonus when you convert credit card points into miles with the program. There are some terms to be aware of (find the full terms & conditions here):
Registration is required to take part in this offer This promotion is valid for transfers between December 29, 2023, and March 31, 2024 The promotion is only available to members who have a mailing address outside of Hong Kong linked to their account, and only points transfers from programs outside Hong Kong qualify The 10% bonus miles will post within 8-10 weeks of the end of the promotion, so that’s a very long time to wait There’s no limit to how many bonus miles you can earn with this promotion, and you can take advantage of it multiple times Take advantage of a 10% transfer bonusOften we see transfer bonuses being offered directly by credit card rewards programs, but in this case the bonus is being offered by Asia Miles. That’s why you won’t see this promotion when you go to the credit card rewards pages to transfer points. The standard points should post quickly, and then expect to wait many weeks for the 10% bonus to post.
As a reminder, in the United States, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is transfer partners with Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One, and Citi ThankYou.
Redeem miles for Cathay Pacific business classIs this Cathay Pacific Asia Miles transfer bonus worth it?
While Cathay Pacific is one of my favorite airlines in the world, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is far from my favorite frequent flyer program. At least that was the case historically, for a couple of reasons:
If you want to redeem for travel on Cathay Pacific, you’re typically better off booking through some partner programs, like American AAdvantage or Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Cathay Pacific Asia Miles’ partner award chart isn’t terribly lucrative, as redemption rates can be high, and fuel surcharges can also be steepThat being said, perhaps this program is a bit more useful than in the past. With Cathay Pacific’s almost non-existent award space through partner programs, Cathay Pacific continues to release at least some premium cabin award space to members of its own program. So whether it’s a limited amount of transpacific first class award space or intra-Asia business class award space, the Asia Miles program leaves you best positioned for these redemptions.
For what it’s worth, below is the Asia Miles award chart for travel on Cathay Pacific flights.

I love Cathay Pacific, but not Asia MilesBottom line
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is offering a 10% transfer bonus when you transfer credit card rewards to the program. Just be sure you register, make the transfer by March 31, 2024, and that you’re not based in Hong Kong, and you’ll receive a 10% bonus 8-10 weeks after the promotion ends.
While this is hardly the most lucrative promotion ever, it’s worth taking advantage of if you’re going to make a transfer anyway. For example, I recently used the Asia Miles program to book a Cathay Pacific award ticket, as partner programs didn’t have any award space.
I wouldn’t take advantage of this speculatively, but if you have a specific use in mind and you know what you’re doing, this could be worth it.
Anyone taking advantage of this Asia Miles transfer bonus?
