I am overjoyed to announce the return of limited in-studio instruction for fully vaccinated clients starting Tuesday June 15th 2021 after over a year and a quarter of closure. We are confident that with proper precautions these sessions can not only take place safely but with the quality of relaxation necessary to make them worthwhile.
A couple of details: Full vaccination is required for all indoor in-person students. Proof of vaccination (2nd shot Moderna or Phizer or 1 shot J&J plus two weeks) will be required before entry (I have been fully vaccinated since March). If you have yet to reach full vaccinated or would prefer to continue virtual we still have online options available as well as outdoor coaching (No hands-on available). Proper masking will be required for now until infection rates fall to a negligible level to ensure a safe environment. It is my hope that these requirements can be lifted as vaccination rates rise and infections continue to fall, but given the close contact nature of Alexander Technique hands-on work this is the best course for now. Though we aren't a medical practice we feel following state guidelines those settings is the right thing to do. The first couple of weeks of sessions will be reserved for existing and returning clients. New clients will be able to book starting July 6th. A fifteen minute phone consultation will be required for new students prior to the first session. Flexible packages of lessons will be available as well as individual appointments. If you have an existing virtual package you can redeem for in person lessons of the equivalent amount of time if you wish.We will be open for 3-4 days a week with a variety of hours. There will be caps on how many clients per day can be seen in studio. All appointments will be limited to 55 minutes (scheduled in a one hour block to allow for five minutes for the client to leave the space). 30 minute sessions are also available.
In addition to requiring masks, we are implementing comprehensive safety procedures including: Sometimes moving lessons from our studio room to the larger front room in my residence for the summer to allow for distancing when not actively engaging in hands on work and improved ventilation.A HEPA air filter certified for 361 square feet will be used to clean and change over the air in the space regularly. The filter works by trapping the particles that COVID-19 attaches to so they can't circulate. Temperature checks with a forehead thermometer upon entry. Hand sanitization before hands-on work (this is consistent with my pre-COVID procedures as well). Clients will be spaced out to prevent interaction between them and allow for disinfection of teaching equipment and ventilation between appointments. Clients will agree to a code of conduct and self health-attestation upon booking appointments. My rescheduling policy will be updated to allow you to move your lesson as a precaution if you experience same-day COVID-19 symptoms or find out about recent exposure. The same will be true of me--I will not teach a lesson if I am experiencing any symptoms. 24-hour notice on rescheduling will still be required for all non-COVID related reasons. ?I realize you may have questions about these procedures and about sessions going forward. I welcome your questions and feedback at freedominmotionat@gmail.com.
