Releasing ahead of the upcoming album Dream States, “Better Than Most” is a memorable single from Dead Heart Bloom. The duo of vocalist/bassist Boris Skalsky and guitarist Paul Wood again impress with a soaring, psych-infused rock sound, after catching our ears this past decade with tracks like “Broken Babylon” and “Ways to Go.”
“Better Than Most” marks the band’s first single in four years. They don’t skip a beat here, delivering an anthemic production that marvels in both its dazed vocal immersion, steady bass pulses, and its riveting “oh, I’m halfway gone,” hook. A hypnotic guitar elongation appears into the second minute, with a lingering tonal haunting alongside steady bass pulses traversing into a blissful final minute, which converges the gorgeous vocal work with the textured guitars and thumping rhythmic momentum. “Better Than Most” is a welcome return from this talented act.
