A spacey, cinematic electronic production enamors on Tides of the Bloom, a track out today from German-Italian composer Julian Petrin. The release represents a rework of Petrins earlier work, a composition crafted in 1990 as theatre music for a Munich-based production of Frank Wedekinds play Spring Awakening.

It reflects the desire for a departure into life, for self-determination, which are at the centre of Wedekings play, Petrin says of the release. The new version attempts to capture the spirit of the time in which it was created and at the same to translate the track carefully into the present day.

The production wastes no time with its atmospheric immersion, dazzling with a trickling synth arp alongside ghostly, wordless vocals and subtle clap-like percussion. A symphonic synth sensation becomes more intertwined as the first minute begins to conclude, traversing thereafter into a triumphant-sounding appeal into further arp-forward emphasis past the two-minute turn. Gorgeous melodies wistfully appear underneath the steady arp effect, combining with haunting textural appeal for a production that fully lingers. Tides of the Bloom stirs with a sound fit for contemplation, an ideal fit for contemplating on the new year approaching.
