Todd Mankin is a veteran singer-songwriter who launched his career twenty years ago, after trading some car parts for his first acoustic guitar. Before long, the Lubbock-native was making the rounds at local open mics. He was hooked.

The Texas song man immersed himself in the TX/OK Red Dirt country scene. He dropped his debut album in 2009 and hit the road. As both an artist and as a road manager for other artists, Todd Mankin rubbed shoulders and shared stages with renowned acts like Bruce Robison, Charlie Robison, Cooder Graw, Kevin Fowler, Roger Creager, Eli Young Band, The Bellamy Brothers, Reckless Kelly, Cory Morrow and others.  

Broken is the brand new album from Todd Mankin, available worldwide via all major streaming services. The twelve-song set marks the singer’s return to the national stage after a more-than ten-year hiatus. From the tearjerker opening country/rock title track, to the conflicted everyman anthem “Time to Get a Gun”, Todd weaves together elements of country, rock, and folk into his own distinct Red Dirt outlaw vibe.

Backed by a virtuosic country ensemble of bass, drums, keys, electric, acoustic and lap steel guitars, Todd Mankin delivers his tales of heartbreak and redemption with the wit, insight, and wisdom of a storyteller who has seen his fair share of the road. He laments lost loves on tear-in-my-beer torch-songs like “Hotel Of Broken Dreams”, “Oklahoma”, and “June Time”, a remake of the title track from his 2009 debut LP.

The singer offers a view from the road on introspective tracks like “The Battery”, “Love Me While I’m Here” and the Skynyrd-style Southern rocker “House on the Hill”. Todd Mankin drops a bit of country Zen as the band take the party to the dancefloor on the honky-tonk barn-burner “Roof Over My Head”. “Steel Rail Lullaby” is a real high point on the album, as the band lays down some traditional dobro-fueled mountain music over a shuffle railroad rhythm.
