We first heard from Ross Davis in July of this year, upon the release of his four-song EP This Town. That record introduced The Static Dive readers to a veteran singer, songwriter, and storyteller with a classic folk-infused Americana sound.
Ross Davis has been sharing his observations and anecdotes with the Midwest and beyond since dropping his debut LP Better Late Than Never in 2012. The Indiana song-man has been particularly active in recent years, releasing 7 singles and an EP since 2021. Now, hot on the heels of This Town, Ross offers a touching tribute to a fallen hero.
“Love at the Five and Dime” is the brand new single from Ross Davis, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 6, 2023. The track opens on a solo acoustic guitar as the singer steps to the mic. A full country ensemble joins the mix and Davis pulls up a barstool.
In a smooth alt-folk tenor he tells the tale of Eddie and Rita. They meet and fall in love as Eddie frequents Rita’s place of work. But their relationship finds trouble when ambition gets in the way. The song was originally written and recorded by a recently-passed legend.
