Sticky and Sweet - It’s all about the music whistle!

Lauren Bacall delivered an unforgettable line in her breakout role as "Slim" in 1944's movie blockbuster To Have and Have Not:

“You know you don't have to act with me, Steve (played by Humphrey Bogart). You don't have to say anything, and you don't have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and ... blow.

Our newly released song, ”Sticky and Sweet,” does exactly that by featuring an instantly memorable whistle hook (thanks to Laurie!) with an upbeat and playful vibe offering good time sing-along lyrics and classic playful harmonies. Best of all - it’s just in time to kick off your summer holiday season!

“Sticky and Sweet”  - join us on a romantic holiday escape as you listen to the cheerful acoustic island sounds of a ukulele a la Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson and Israel Kamakawiwo?ole.

“Sticky and Sweet,” a whimsically upbeat …loving song of new beginnings with its gentle whistling intro, Kole’s baritone ukulele, finger-picked guitars and Raveis’ soothing vocals & playful harmonies. It inspires feelings of vacationing on tropical beaches as you lay out in the sun with a cool drink while a soft breeze blows over you.

BONUS WHISTLING SECTION:

Whistling has been featured in a number of classic tunes, here are some of the most memorable:

"Whistle While You Work" is a song with music written by Frank Churchill and lyrics written by Larry Morey for the 1937 animated Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’ Soundtrack – ‘Colonel Bogey March’ (1957).

(This is the tune whistled by British POWs in the 1957 film about life in a Japanese prison camp. It serves as a symbol of their defiance and optimism in the face of adversity. The repetitive whistle is a true “ear worm” and it is almost impossible to resist joining in the fun! (True story - my dad was actually held as a Dutch prisoner in this camp during the war).

Otis Redding – "Dock of the Bay" (1968)  Recorded just days before Redding’s death in an airplane crash in 1967, this song topped the R&B chart when released the following year. A breathy, imperfect whistle ends the song and sounds casual and unselfconscious, as if blown to while away the time.

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin was the first a cappella song to reach Number One on Billboard's charts. (1988)

Whistling opens the soulful, acoustic single “Patience” released in 1989 by Guns N' Roses. Frontman Axl Rose does the whistling.

A fun tune by Noah and the Whale, "5 years time" (1989) and,

of course, the melodic bird song whistle hook of “So Nice” (2022) by Raveis Kole!

The red cardinal

And a mockingbird nesting in the cacti, pokey needles might spur a whistle or two!

The intention was a pink dress but it was a heavier material, way too hot so we made a quick change, to stripes!

Cacti are Sticky and Sweet too!

Playing at KXCI live on air with Hannah and Duncan.  We played "Glacier" and "So Nice"

Enjoy, Laurie & Dennis
