National Mill Dog Rescue (NMDR) is celebrating 15 years of saving lives.

2022 will mark 15 years since Lily (our founding dog) was rescued, and NMDR’s humble beginnings took hold in Colorado Springs. The collective efforts of our dedicated staff and volunteers, along with the generosity we receive from supporters near and far, has allowed us to save nearly 17,000 puppy mill survivors since our inception in 2007. National Mill Dog Rescue has come a long way over the last 15 years, growing from one person to a team, from several good friends helping out, to hundreds of volunteers. Our shelter in Peyton has had some improvements over the years, from our “Timothy Center”, a state-of-the-art veterinary facility, to enhanced outdoor play yards and socialization areas, to the Rehabilitation Center, which houses many dogs to be cared for by their Rehab team each day.

This year, NMDR has been able to transform a previous open space into two large indoor play yards that will be used for indoor dog socialization, play dates, puppy parties, and enrichment. They will also officially open the doors on the dedicated Education Room that will be home base for Community Outreach, Humane Education, and Volunteer Training. This will allow our team to continue carrying on NMDR’s mission more effectively, while positively impacting the lives of the dogs (and humans) we get to save.
