It’s been a year to remember for the classic iPhone app Hipstamatic. In March, the retro photo app relaunched with a new social network feature.

An anecdote to modern social apps, you can only follow a maximum of 99 people, with only nine of those as friends who can be designated as close friends. So make sure to choose your friends wisely.

All of the photos you post, available with Hipstamtlc’s large catalog of filters, are only visible for 30 days.

And to cap off 2023, the app has just been updated with a number of new features. First up is a new analog viewfinder and camera menu system that ups the retro vibes when using the app.

There is also new multiple exposure and hard flash buttons.

Photographers can select from an instant or a new delayed developing mode that let you see all of the pictures after a certain amount of time.

The EZ-Auto scene detection is now customizable for better images.

Finally, a manual mode allows you to load all of your favorite presets.

Hipstamatic is free download on the App Store now and only for the iPhone. You’ll need a subscription to use most of the app’s features. That can be unlocked with a $4.99 monthly or $29.99 yearly subscription.

Subscribers will be able to use more than 300 lenses and film effects and unlock more creative tools.

The annual subscription feature a one-week free trial. You can also try out the app free for 24 hours without agreeing to a subscription up front.
