I’m just a few kilometers from the Gaza border.
It’s Saturday, almost evening here in Israel, and I want to give you an update about what’s happening in Gaza City.
We’ve seen a lot of explosions there today. The fighting, at least from the air, is somewhat lighter than it’s been for the last few days.
But on the ground inside Gaza City, even as I’ve been here, there’s been intense fighting around the two churches where the thousand or so Christians in Gaza are sheltering.
The fighting has been intense.
So intense in the last few weeks that no international relief organization has been able to get food and medical supplies to those churches.
Their supplies are dwindling.
They have been injured and nobody can get in to treat them.
Now the fighting is literally street to street, house to house, apartment to apartment in the neighborhoods around the churches.
The crossfire has led to a number of wounded people in the churches, even some being killed.
We’re just getting these reports in the last few hours.
A bit of the fog of war.
I’ve had many Palestinian Christians contacting me to give updates.
According to my sources in the IDF, they have to fight intensely in those neighborhoods because Hamas is still in control there.
There’s no way relief will be able to get to the Christians, much less them getting to southern Gaza or reaching any sort of safe haven until those neighborhoods are secured.
Please keep praying for victory against Hamas in those neighborhoods
Please pray that relief can get to these Christians.
They’re scared.
They’re wounded.
They’ve had people killed just in the last 24 hours or so.
It’s a very, very critical situation.
The Latin Patriarchate has released the following statement.
The IDF has not yet officially commented, but at least one Israeli government source tells me that it is not clear that the IDF was responsible and that it may very well have been Hamas terrorists who are responsible for these deaths and injuries.
This is a developing story.
ALL ARAB NEWS will publish updates as they emerge.
