The new year will be busy with area freeway projects, including two that will likely affect Maricopa motorists.
The Interstate 10 Gila River Bridges project southeast of Riggs Road will reconstruct the outdated existing I-10 bridges crossing the Gila River. It is scheduled to start in spring 2024 and take about two years to complete.
The I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project between the Interstate 17 “Split” and Loop 202 in Chandler is slated for completion near the end of 2024. It is the largest freeway reconstruction project in Arizona Department of Transportation’s history.
Crews will finish elevated ramps providing direct connections between I-10 and State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway). It will complete lanes carrying traffic in areas between Baseline Road and 40th Street.
The new year will see the launch of two Loop 101 widening projects as well as advancements on improvement projects underway along I-10 near the Broadway Curve and I-17 north of Phoenix.
