Going to Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend has been on my bucket list for quite some time and this summer I finally decided to go. Living only a few hours away from Page Arizona, which is where the canyons are located, it was not a long drive. So me, my Mom and my Aunt packed our bags and headed up to Page for the weekend.
The drive to Page took us through huge red rocks and deserts and it was actually really pretty. II held my phone and camera out of the sunroof and got some cool photos too!
Once we were in Page, we decided to go see Horseshoe Bend. Horseshoe bend is right off the side off the road, but we had to pay a 10 dollar parking fee. It was a 3/4 mile hike to get there, which we did not think sounded bad at all. Not even bothering to check the temperature we got out of the car in jeans and started to hike. Horseshoe bend has become extremely popular over the last couple of years, so there were lots of people and no shade the whole way there. After walking for about 10 minutes we made it. I have to say Horseshoe bend is pretty neat and much bigger than I expected. So after taking a bunch of pictures, we started the hike back. Let me remind you, it was 100 degrees in the middle of summer with no shade. We almost didn't make it to the car it was so hot and we were exhausted. It was worth it, but do not visit Horseshoe Bend in the middle of the summer.
The next day we woke up early and left the hotel to get on the tour for the Antelope Canyons. There are two parts of the Antelope Canyon, the Lower and Upper. The difference is Upper is much more crowed and has more space and for Lower you need to book a private tour. to visit any of the canyon you need to book a tour, since it is on Navajo reservation. We booked a tour with Adventurous Antelope Canyon Tours, which was amazing. They take you to two other private canyons, Rattlesnake and Owl Canyon, which are just as pretty as the Antelope Canyons, but not as crowded. Owl Canyon had several owls in it and their were only five people actually in the canyon. The our tour guide took us through every little part of the canyons. He even helped get amazing shots on our cameras. After Owl and Rattlesnake Canyon, we went to the famous Upper Antelope Canyon. The pictures I took just don't do it justice. Was it crowded? Yes. Was it crammed? Yes. Was it worth it? Totally! The light looks so beautiful in the canyon and displays so many colors. Be sure to ask the tour guides to best settings to use on your camera or phone. Overall the whole experience is amazing and I would totally go see it again.
