The 2023 Early Signing Period is finally here! The Arizona Wildcats welcomed numerous new players to the team on Wednesday.

One such player is UC Davis transfer defensive lineman Chubba Ma’ae.

His signing day profile can be found here. Read on below to learn a little more about one of the new additions to the Wildcat Football program.

AZ Desert Swarm: What is your favorite hobby?

Chubba Ma’ae: “Anything to do with music: singing, dancing, playing, and sometimes trying to make music. I play drums, a little piano, and I’m trying to pick up the guitar.”

What is your favorite post-game meal?

“My favorite post-game meal is a good old Double Double Cheeseburger with grilled onions, fries, and a coke. To switch it up, a carne asada plate with beans, rice, grilled onions, tortillas, and some tacos on the side.”

What is your go-to pre-game hype song?

“I don’t like to get hype before games, I like to relax. I don’t have a go-to song, but I’ll usually put on some Luke Combs or some Adele.”

What is the fondest memory you have of your college career?

“I’d say my game against Weber State this year, it was a very emotional game for me. I had one of my best games of the year and I made a promise to my late uncle the week before, who passed away a couple of days before the game, that I’d get a sack for him; I did.”

What is the one major lesson you’ve learned since starting college football?

“Don’t overthink and HAVE FUN!”

What is your greatest strength on the field and what is the part of your game you’d like to work on?

“Besides my run-stopping ability, I’d say my greatest strength is my effort. I’d like to work on my pass rush and lateral quickness.”

What are your thoughts on Arizona’s 2023 season?

“They’ve done a hell of a job in the 3 aspects of the game, and the defense is electric. I can’t wait to play with the guys.”

What are you looking forward to the most about being an Arizona Wildcat?

“I’m looking forward to that gameday atmosphere that you dream of as a kid growing up. I haven’t experienced that yet playing in the FCS. I am also excited about competing and, hopefully, dominating bigger and better competition than I’m used to going against.”
