Arsenal travel to Anfield to face Liverpool tomorrow, and David James believes they have a specific weakness the Reds could exploit.
Spain international goalkeeper David Raya is expected to retain his starting berth having established himself as first-choice since joining the Gunners on loan from Brentford in the summer.
The 28-year-old has largely failed to impress at Arsenal, and James reckons starting him against Liverpool could end up proving costly given his underwhelming performances so far.
“If Curtis Jones starts, I think Liverpool could win this 3-1,” the former England international told BBC Sport.
“And the other thing, if David Raya is going to start, his position is questionable.
“And If I’m a Liverpool player, Trent Alexander-Arnold in particular, I’m shooting from funny places and possibly scoring .
“So I’m going to go 3-1 to Liverpool. Not knowing the team of course.”
Raya has not exuded confidence in most of the games he has featured in so far this term, and Liverpool will be looking to put in several crosses and shoot from distance as often as they can on Saturday.
He has committed two errors leading to goals this term and will need to be on top of his game against Jurgen Klopp’s side if Arsenal are to leave with a result.
The Gunners will be desperate to secure a win against Liverpool and further consolidate their spot at the top of the Premier League table, and their players will need to be perfect to produce such a result at Anfield.
Raya has plenty to prove tomorrow, and he has what it takes to be the hero given his huge experience and quality despite his recent woes.
Alisson Becker will be looking to thwart the efforts of the Arsenal attackers, and his opposite number needs to do the same and show what he is truly made of.
