STILL LIFE JAR -SKETCHING LESSON. Follow along step by step with Viridian Art !
You’ll need: paper, pencil, eraser and whatever you have at home to add in color. We’ll be using watercolor paints and green oil pastel for ours, but crayons, chalk pastels, color pencils, markers, paint all will work too!
This is a great lesson for teaching remotely! Students can use any materials they have at home. The jar can be filled with flowers or anything you can dream of. My students drew in cookies, planets, fireflies. Have fun and get super creative with this one.

Decide what you would like to fill your jar with, or continue to follow along with me and add flowers…
If you are filling your jar with flowers, add in as many flowers as you would like. Different shapes, colors, and textures. Then use the oil pastel or crayon to make the stems.
A fun little splatter painting in the flower bouquet is a nice artistic touch. Use watercolor or acrylic paint on your brush and pull the bristles back towards you, with one finger. Aim and stay close to the paper.
This art lesson makes a great MOTHER’S DAY project!!
