Hi! Today I have a round-up of Name Design art projects for you.

Name projects are wonderful to do at the beginning of the year for a number of reasons. First, it is a great way to learn all your students’ names. Second, it’s a great way for students to share about themselves. You can easily tie in personal interests to name designs. Third, it’s a familiar subject matter to kids and a less intimidating way to start the year.

My Name, by Supriya Kelkar is a good book to read at the start of a name project. (Affiliate links have been used at no extra cost to you.)

Simple Name Designs: Create a simple name design showing a few personal interests. See this blog post for step-by-step directions.

2. Grid Name Designs: Create a patterned grid of repeated letters of your name. Click here to learn more and get a free printable grid.

3. Radial Name Design: Here is a lesson I used to do with my 5th/6th grade students. I really like how these designs turned out. So beautiful! Read here for directions.

4. Graffiti Names: We used Art from Trista’s tutorial to create our own graffiti names in my 4th/5th grade classes. You can see our results here.

5. Name Rockets. For my littlest ones, we made Name Rockets, using construction paper, metallic markers and stickers.
