Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion reviewWith so many Korean foundation cushions in the market and as a huge BB cushion addict who has suppressed her addiction since she’s running out of run to store them, the Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion seems to have taken off not online in Korea but also on Tiktok.  Cushion foundations (or BB cushions) aren’t a new invention and have been around for a decade or so and usually have a very small shade range if you choose to pick one up from a Korean brand.  The Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion has been praised for its glowy, lightweight, and long-lasting dewy finish, so let’s see if it lives up to the hype.

Clio glow cushion review

How to use:
With the puff, take the content and use it thinly in a light sweeping motion. You may take too much content when tapping strongly with the puff.

Clio kill cover glow cushion reviewPackaging:
I have to say, the new packaging from Clio’s BB cushion is stunning.  It is slightly thinner than the usual round cushion cases and the transparent pink packaging is wow.  It kind of reminds me of the jelly Baby G watches I wanted as a teenager but my parents wouldn’t get it for me.

Clio kill cover glow cushion reviewI’m not too sure if this is the regular set that comes with a refill or not.  If it regularly comes with a refill already, then I think this BB cushion is very worth it retailing for 35,000 won.  The downside is that it only comes with 3 shades to choose from.  There is also a matte version in the same line if you are a different skin type or you just don’t enjoy the dewy look.

Clio glow cushion reviewThe design is very modern, sleek, and stunning.  You open the case by pressing down on the button and inside is a nice-sized mirror and an air puff.

Clio kill cover glow cushion reviewI love the little tear drop tip, which really helps with applying and blending out the corners of my eyes and the sides of my nose.  I would used to have to fold my air puffs to get onto those areas.  The air puff is a standard spongy air puff that doesn’t absorb too much of the products and applies smoothly onto the skin.

Clio kill cover glow cushion in ginger reviewThis BB cushion also has an updated mesh instead of the old-school sponges.  I don’t know why all companies just move away from the sponge and into the mesh cushion.  It applies to the air puff so much easier and less product is wasted as well!

Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion in ginger reviewColor/ Pigmentation:
I got the shade #4 ginger, which I was hoping it wouldn’t be too dark since it is the darkest shade.  I have bought foundations before from Clio and it would be too dark on me.  I’m not sure if they have updated the shades or not, but on the back of my hand, Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion in ginger blends in perfectly but looks pale on my face.

Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion reviewIt is pigmented and has medium coverage.  Actually, if you look closely at the back of my hand, there is a bit of pale/artificial “brightening/ tone up” look to my skin.

Clio kill cover glow cushion reviewMaybe I can make it work.  Let’s get to trying it on my face.  I personally have very dry skin and love dewy and hydrating foundations and BB cushions.  The shade range wise, I’m usually a #23 across most BB cushions or a MAC NC25 (maybe slightly darker now because of summer) with a yellow undertone.

Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion reviewHere is my bare face with no makeup on, only skincare such as toner, eye cream, and moisturizer.Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion reviewWith just one pat on the BB cushion, it picks up so much product.  Honestly, I think I can get away with just one tap on the mesh cushion for my entire face if I wanted to.

Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion reviewBefore (right side), and after (left side).  With just one layer, it did a great job at evening out my skin tone and my redness is pretty much non-existent.  There is a nice glow to the cushion, however, I can’t help but feel as though the formula is almost separating on top of my skin.  This really reminds me of Aritaum real ampoule CC pact which I reviewed in the past which I believe is discontinued.

Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion reviewTexture/ Finish:
I understand I’m getting old, but I swear my skin does not look this bad.  It almost seems like the Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion has plopped a ton of glow onto my face but somehow still shows every pore and unevenness of my face.  I don’t know how to explain it but you can definitely see it in this picture.  If you are thinking “girl, that’s just your face normally”, wait till you see what I look like in 5 hours.

Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion reviewCoverage:
This BB cushion does give a solid light to medium coverage.  It feels lightweight on my face but I look like I’m wearing a mask.  If there was a darker shade, I would go another shade up just so I look and feel a bit more natural.

Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion reviewAnd here is my face with the rest of my makeup on.  It doesn’t look bad right now, especially under bright lights.  So I’d say if you want to wear this for photos, it will look cute from a distance.

Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion in ginger reviewAnd…. this is what I look like 5 hours later, under harsh bedroom lighting shining right above my head.  As you can see, the glow is now gone and my skin is looking dry, bumpy, and uneven.  It isn’t cute.  I’m not sure if I’ve been truly taken by my La Roche Posay mineral one tinted sunscreen which is almost like my foundation at this point, but I’m used to it being low effort, giving my skin a gorgeous dewy glow with medium to high coverage and provides me with the sunscreen I need.

Lasting power:
I personally don’t set my face with powder and this BB cushion will transfer if you have to wear a mask or you touch your face a lot.  The dewy finish dries down in 3-4 hours and I start to look a bit dry after 4-5 hours.

Fragrance?:
There is a strong floral scent.  Smell-o-scale: 6/10 in terms of how strong the scent is and it does fade after application.

Pro:
-mesh makes application so much easier
-does give the glow
-gorgeous packaging

Con:
-formula doesn’t have strong adherence, separates after application
-small shade range
-too pale even for the darkest shade (and I’m not even a medium skin tone girl)

Repurchase?:
No

Stars given out of 5:

Overall thoughts:
I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I don’t really understand the hype around this product.  Yes, the packaging is pretty and yes it does give you the glow as it is mentioned in the name.  Is it the best BB cushion I’ve ever tried?  No, especially with my history with 55 BB cushion in my collection, there are so many other BB cushions you need to try that truly deserves more hype.  Foundation cushions like the Beauty people absolute honey girl cushion foundation, Beauty people absolute radiant girl cushion foundation, Missha glow ampoule pact or even A’pieu air fit BB cushion which started my new BB cushion addiction back in 2015. Overall I think this Clio kill cover mesh glow cushion ranks average and maybe I will revisit this review if I find there is a better way to apply it more flawlessly.  For now, I give this cushion an average rating.
