2022 is such a meaningful year for Cetaphil. First off, it’s celebrating 75 years!!! Happy 75th birthday, Cetaphil! Secondly, it has also reformulated or repackaged several product lines this year, which is why you will notice that your Cetaphil faves have a new look or even more skincare benefits when you see the items in stores. Thirdly, it’s also been a very active year of Cetaphil teaming up with dermatologists to make the general public understand more about how to care for their skin to unlock a healthier life.

One such event of living out their advocacy of caring for the skin was their Cetaphil Sensitive Skin Lab, which was held at the BGC arts Center last August 31. This is among the very few in-person events I’ve attended since the pandemic started, so it was nice to be able to get into the whole setup of shoots and talks and all that. I’m thankful to Cetaphil for their dedication in making pocket events or PR events like these which were conducted in batches so as to maintain social distancing. They also swab test us before their events, so I’m thankful for their attention to these kinds of details.

For this event, it was a fun time listening to Bianca Gonzales chat with host Xandra Rocha about their own skincare journeys.

Bianca shared that she really wasn’t that into skincare when she was younger. It was eventually when skin sensitivity problems started arising that she had to start to pay attention to skincare. She was candid about telling guests to not wait to start caring about skin care. Anytime is a good time to start. I agree with this sentiment because I often realize that I just happen to be a beauty blogger which is why I’m so used to applying skincare. I started caring way before my peers started caring, and I have lots of friends my age who ask me about starting skincare as recently as a few years ago. I guess we have this entire granny culture of scolding kids for wanting to use makeup and skincare in fears that it will ruin their skin hence this predicament, but as an exact example, Cetaphil is a brand that young people can use to preserve their youth and not damage their skin while doing so. And to add, at present, we have much more sun damage on this planet than when our grannies were younger, so if I can actually decide things for everyone, babies should start using sunscreen soon.

I’ve been working on several campaigns with Cetaphil this past quarter, so it’s been interesting to learn more about their products as well as their reformulated items. But the thing that surprised me is that apparently, Cetaphil comes from the combination of Cetearyl Alcohol, a hydrating agent, and Philos, the Greek word for ‘loving.’ So yeah, apparently, Cetaphil essentially means “loving hydration” which is such an apt name given how Cetaphil has been at the forefront of making skin healthy all these years. In 1947, Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser was born, and as we know, the rest is history.

Speaking of hydration, during Cetaphil Sensitive Skin Lab, Cetaphil’s Moisturizers’ wonders were easily proven by a simple skin hydration test. They tested my wrist, and this is the result before using Cetaphil moisturizer. 44.3% is actually not dehydrated, but it can be better.

After applying Cetaphil moisturizer, the hydration level is now at 66%! I really appreciate them focusing on their moisturizers because the pandemic has really caused us all to have dry skin. We’ve had to wash and sanitize almost everything all the time. Heck, we are still washing groceries at this point (assuming the item can’t be placed under a UV lamp). And yeah, now that I said UV lamp, I’m sure the lamp has also caused skin damage one way or another. There is no 100% way to avoid the UV lamp, like there will always be that accidental moment you walk in while the lamp is in use or open the sanitation box when the lamp is still on. It’s important to pay even more attention to suncare and keeping the skin hydrated because there isn’t really much of a choice these days given that we’re in a pandemic.

This event was also a great time rediscovering Cetaphil’s entire range of products. For cleansers alone, I thought they only had their flagship Gentle Skin Cleansers, but apparently, they also have a Gentle Foaming Cleanser and Daily Exfoliating Cleanser! I’m personally more used to using a cleansing foam, and I feel that maybe there are plenty of others who also look for a foaming sensation in their facial cleansers, which is why Cetaphil has a product to respond to that need.

I go through skincare quickly, so I’m excited to be able to try out their new moisturizers! My mom also really likes Cetaphil sunscreen, so I wonder how she’ll find the new one. IIRC they launched the sunscreens in 2020 as I also blogged about those, so I have yet to see what’s new. And ah, they also sent us a succulent home, and while I was so nervous about it, we transferred the plant to a larger and less aesthetically pleasing pot, placed it in our garden, and thus far it’s still alive. My sister is now attached to the plant and has named it Plant Baybehh. I’m so terrible with plants gah I hope Plant Baybehh lives a happy life in our garden.

The new range of Cetaphil Moisturizers has something for every skin type. There are options for dryer skin and less dryer skin, but true to Cetaphil’s DNA, their products always soothe even the most sensitive skin. And they have always been at the forefront of hydrating skin! Yes, dry skin is different from dehydrated skin. They now also have a Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15. Indeed, they are really upping the ante on their 75th year!

ICYMI, this is their older packaging for their moisturizers, which I had in this post. But actually, even this moisturizer in this post was also still quite new as it was for their campaign in May this year. They really just happened to time a lot of launches and events to make their 7th year memorable.
