Very cute box!

Normally I’m not that excited about trying out lipsticks, because I have plenty of them… but these seemed right up my alley. They looked moisturizing AND they’re affordable! They’re $5.99 a piece at CVS. Plus, I was able to pick out colors that I’d actually wear – although for those who are more adventurous, they did have some other interesting colors available (more bold ones). I went with something that I might still be able to wear at work or to my in-laws’ for Christmas.

Packaging

Each lippie has the letter “J” engraved into it.

I liked the packaging! The bullets felt sturdy and the caps snapped on very firmly, so I knew they weren’t the kind to fall off in my purse and smear lipstick everywhere (no thanks to you, Wet N Wild!!). What’s interesting and unique about their packaging is that the little blocks of color showing the shade of lipstick are on the TOP of the bullets instead of the bottom, which is what other brands usually do. I like it this way! Now, if you store them standing up in a drawer, you can very easily see which shade you need. Also, as you can see from the picture above, the blocks of color match the actual shade pretty well.

I received the shades “Adulting” (Red), “Seoul Sista” (Pink) and “Swipe Right” (Nude).

The ingredients were all listed in tiny print on a sticker that was meant to be peeled off, so I plugged them in to CosDNA and you can click HERE to see their analysis!

Swatches & Try On

From top to bottom:
“Swipe Right”
“Seoul Sista”
“Adulting”

At first I thought the swatches looked a bit streaky, so I was a little concerned… but it felt creamy and very blendable when I swatched them.

From left to right:
“Swipe Right”, “Seoul Sista”, “Adulting”

You can tell that the two on the left have a little shimmer in them, but “Adulting” has none.

Trying them on went well – I applied them by swiping it from one corner my lower lip to the other and filling the middle in, then filling in half of my top lip and then the other, rubbing my lips together and then finally blotting with a tissue to get the excess off. In between shades, they rubbed off fairly easily with a tissue but they each DID leave a bit of a stain on my lips, which is nice.

They all felt comfortable, were easy to apply evenly (even the brightest shade was forgiving), and were pigmented. They are advertised as “creamy” lipsticks, and they do feel creamy and moisturizing. My lips didn’t get any dryer by the end of the day, which I’m thankful for! A lot of lipsticks do dry my lips out by the end of the day, especially during the winter.

I decided to do the wear test on the brightest shade, “Adulting”, since that would be the easiest to see a difference in by the end of the day:

After a day of eating and drinking and living!

It did wear off quite a bit by the end, probably because of meals and staying hydrated. I might have licked my lips a few times by accident, too! It could be worse; it didn’t wear off in patches and it doesn’t look bad, it just isn’t as vibrant as it was in the morning. There’s only a *hint* of lipstick on my lips by the end of the day. Of course, in the future, I will just reapply once or twice throughout the day as needed.

Overall Thoughts

To be honest, the pink swatch scared me because it looked like a neon sparkly pink that I thought I would absolutely hate, but once I put it on it looked really nice! Goes to show you, trying them on is much different that just looked at the shades or even swatching them. Reminds me of clothes shopping… so frustrating!! I probably never would have picked that pink shade (or red shade for that matter) out, but I will definitely be using both of those up!

I think this experience made me want to try more of their shades – it seems like they’re all made to be very wearable. Because they’re also priced so reasonably it’s going to be easy to pick up a few more shades to try!

In general, if you’re looking for a creamy lipstick that you’re not expecting to be long-wearing, but you need something pigmented that’s comfortable to wear and that’s cheap – this is worth a try!
