I was so excited to go back for my second facial last week, especially after already seeing progress after the first one.
Ms. Oh spent about two hours on my face: the same double cleansing ritual with a light massage, then she applied aroma oils with the next serum and did a really intense face massage: forehead, cheekbones, jawline, collarbone, and even the scalp. She applied another mask and then left it on me for a little bit, then placed a gauze sheet over the mask to help it absorb more. She gave me a hand massage while the last mask set in, then began a cleansing ritual.
Afterwards, even she was surprised at how bright and refreshed my face looked. I was really shocked — for the first time in a long time, my complexion looked bright, clear and lifted. Lifted! What sorcery is this??
Ms. Oh said that since I was responding well to the rituals and techniques, I would probably be able to do the peel soon, in the next couple of sessions or so. I’m a little terrified but also really excited about the prospect of a “new” face, done naturally.
Two days later, Hubby and I were having a drink and he remarked, “your forehead looks good.”
“What about my forehead?”
“It just looks good.”
“No, tell me specifically what’s different. I’m curious to know if other people can see a difference with these facials!”
“No. I’m not doing this.”
The words of a cautious husband.
My friends remarked that my forehead looked smoother, and then I actually started to notice it myself. I had been concerned with three lines that had appeared on my forehead in the fall shortly after I started my new job here, and no amount of rest or Sulwhasoo product was making them go away. Now they’re basically gone.
About a week later, my coworker said my jawline looked more pronounced and my face looked smaller. What the what?! This is crazy talk. But yea, my jawline and face does look a bit slimmer. And all without Botox.
Okay, confession time. When I moved here, a friend at work was curious about getting Botox in the jaw since she had heard it makes your face slimmer. We were talking about it with another coworker and turns out she had it done before, and it really works. It prevents your jaw muscles from working overtime and as a result, makes your face look slimmer. I went for a consult with my friend (turns out, our coworker’s brother is a plastic surgeon at one of the top hospitals in Cheongdam, the bougiest area in Gangnam) and… I wasn’t a candidate! Apparently I don’t have enough muscle buildup in my jaw for them to destroy with Botox. My friend did it though, and within a month or so we could see the results. And it was only ?125,000. Insane.
In hindsight, I’m relieved that none of my Botox/filler exploratories panned out and I was able to find someone who can make my skincare dreams come true in a natural way. Stay tuned...
