Cumin(jeera) is a spice that is popular in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine. It has a warm, earthy flavour and is used to add flavour to various dishes. Cumin cookies are a type of cookie that is made with cumin, flour, sugar, and butter.

The taste is so good that it is hard to resist eating them straight out of the oven! I have been making these biscuits for my husband, who is a huge fan of cumin. I came up with this recipe when he told me he was craving something spicy and light. The roasted cumin lends a distinctive flavour and a crunchy texture to the cookies. These eggless cookies are an ideal tea-time snack or even as a quick breakfast with coffee or milk.

What are Jeera Biscuits(Cookies)?

Jeera Biscuits are a type of savoury Indian biscuit that is flavoured with cumin. They are popular in North India and are often served as an accompaniment to tea or coffee. Jeera Biscuits are made from flour, butter, sugar, and cumin, and can be either baked or fried.

How To Store Eggless Jeera Cookies?

You can store these jeera cookies in an airtight container because the shelf life of these jeera biscuits is up to 2 weeks. So, don’t worry if you have some leftovers just put them in an air-tight container and save them.

How To Make Eggless Jeera Cookies At Home

Ingredients For Making Jeera Cookies Recipe:

  Cumin Seeds – 1,2 tsp  Salted Butter – 100 gms  Milk – 2 tsp  Sugar (Fine Powder) – 40 gms  Corn flour – 2 tsp  All Purpose Flour – 110 gms  Pinch of salt   Vanilla Essence: 2-3 drops

Directions For Making Jeera Cookies Recipe:

1. First of all, Cream butter and sugar till it becomes light and fluffy.

2. Now, add corn flour, flour,  cumin seeds, salt, vanilla essence, and 2 tsp milk into the butter-sugar mix.

3. Mix them well until it gets piping consistency.

4. Now, fill the prepared dough in a piping bag or you can roll it out into small balls.

5. Pipe into the desired shape as you like and sprinkle some cumin seeds over it nicely.

6. Now, freeze them for 1 hour in the refrigerator.

7. Bake them in preheated oven at 180 degrees for around 15 to 18 minutes, until cookie edges start browning.

8. Once done, allow them to cool down completely.

9. Cookies are ready to serve. Serve them with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

Important Notes About Jeera Cookies:

Take the butter out of the refrigerator at least an hour before baking. Make sure, the butter should be soft to the touch, but not melted.You can pipe Cookies into bite-size rosettes, stars or simply in a round shape ( without a nozzle ).The more milk you add, the more the cookies will spread so, we recommend keeping the amount of milk less.The creamed butter and sugar should be light in colour and fluffy in texture. This will result in lighter cookies.
