Sunnies Face's Sunsafe sunscreen promises to be a sun protectant and a radiant skincare experience. Does it deliver, though?
In a sea of beauty products, finding the right sunscreen that lives up to the hype and becomes an essential part of your routine is like discovering a hidden gem.
While I was happy with my previous (traditional, opaque) sunscreen, my concern was that it always left a white cast on my face, creating an uneven look, especially when wearing makeup.
Sunnies Face Sunsafe sunscreen emerges as the ultimate ally for women like me who prefer a lightweight, non-greasy formula for a simple daily skincare routine. With an invisible SPF 50+ PA+++ serum gel, Sunnies Face’s Sunsafe sunscreen promises to be a sun protectant and a radiant skincare experience. Does it deliver, though?
1. Invisible sunscreen for everyday use
Nobody wants a white cast on their faces. Sunnies Face Sunsafe is a transparent gel with a feather-light formula that effortlessly blends into your skin, leaving no traces of a sunscreen ghost. It’s not just protection from 98% of harmful UVB rays; it’s also an excellent primer under makeup.
2. Skin-loving sunscreen-slash-serum
Sunscreens never replace lotions and moisturizers; just observe how traditional sunblock lotions turn chalky after application. But Sunsafe acts as a skincare sidekick with ingredients that give your skin with a hearty dose of love. It’s also a serum packed with niacinamide, peptides, vitamin E, and phytoceramide that keeps your skin hydrated while protecting it from the harsh sun rays.
3. Non-greasy, lightweight, easy to use
Traditional sunscreen can be greasy, heavy, and downright unpleasant. But since Sunnies Face Sunsafe Sunscreen is also a serum, it’s easy to spread- almost like water- and gets easily absorbed by the skin, leaving it soft and feeling fresh all day.
4. Fragrance-free and dermatologically tested
I’m cautious about what I put on my face and introduce new products slowly. As I write, I am experiencing a minor skin breakout and incidentally, my previous sunscreen ran out. Still, I have always wanted to try Sunsafe when it launched. So far, it doesn’t aggravate the condition, which I can attribute to its being fragrance-free and dermatologically tested.
My Experience with Sunnies Face Sunsafe
I like how Sunsafe offers a lighter, skin-hydrating solution while protecting my skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. It’s twice the price compared to my previous sunscreen at PhP 595 for a 50 ml tube but is at an average price point for most gel sunscreens. As for its sun protection, I prefer higher SPFs and have high sun exposure in the afternoons, living my mom’s life of fetching my son from school at the height of the day. Hence, its SPF 50+ PA++ covers the sun protection I need.
The downside for me is that it is not water-resistant. I am lightly active throughout the day and would greatly benefit from waterproof sunblock. I’m getting from Sunsafe’s application instruction to “reapply frequently” that it is not waterproof or sweatproof. To be fair, even sunscreens designed for outdoor use require reapplication after long exposure to the sun, swimming, and excessive sweat. Water resistance probably wouldn’t come from a gel sunscreen (although I am not an expert), but it’s just perfect for people with minimal sun exposure and work in an office, for example, with controlled air conditioning the whole day.
Other features:
-comes in a pump bottle for better amount control
-travel-friendly packaging
-impeccable branding (if you have a thing for it!)
Sunnies Face Sunsafe gel sunscreen is available on their website, as well as Lazada and Shopee.
