After 41 years of dedicated service as the Medical Director for Rockingham County Long-Term Care Services, Dr. Karl Singer has decided to step into the next chapter of his life and pursue other interests. He considers this move a “rewire” rather than a “retire,” and is excited to continue researching and teaching.

Dr. Singer received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He joined our staff as an attending physician in 1975 and has been the County’s Medical Director since 1982. His focus on the unique health needs of older adults has made him an invaluable member of our team. During his tenure, Dr. Singer provided compassionate and high-quality care to our residents; his dedication to their well-being has been unwavering. He has also been a mentor and friend to many of us, and his presence will be greatly missed. While we are sad to see Dr. Singer go, we are also happy for him as he embarks on a new chapter in his life. We wish him all the best in his rewiring, and we are grateful for the many years of service he has provided to our nursing home and the community.

Welcome, Dr. Vaughan

In preparation for Dr. Singer’s departure, a committee consisting of senior leadership conducted a search for a new Medical Director. We are pleased to share that Dr. Kristin Vaughan, one of our current providers, has accepted the position of Medical Director effective May 2024.

Dr. Vaughan grew up in Michigan and received her B.A. from University of Michigan, M.A. from Goddard College, and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from UNECOM. She has been part of the Rockingham County team for over 7 years. Dr. Vaughan enjoys gardening, travel, boating, pickleball and family time. Dr. Vaughan’s familiarity with our community and residents as well as her demonstrated commitment to the field of long-term care services made her an excellent candidate. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Vaughan on her new position. We can’t wait to work with her in this new capacity.
