Thursday 12/21 10:27 PM EST, the Sun leaves the fiery and fun-loving sign of Sagittarius and enters the practical, hard-working earth sign of Capricorn.

When the Sun shifts signs, the collective energy shifts right along with it. Under the energy of Capricorn, we are now more focused on practicality, hard work, and making sure what we set out to do, to work toward, is built to last.

As a cardinal earth sign, Capricorn is no stranger to hard work! “If you build it, they will come” is a motto for this sign. In fact, many a CEOS, entrepreneurs and those in positions of authority fall under this sign, or they have strong Capricorn placements in their birth chart. * Don’t know your placements? Get them for free, right here.

Ruled by structural and disciplined Saturn, Capricorn can and will have fun, but their work must get done first.

Sunny side of Capricorn: steady, loyal, truthful, pragmatic and determined. As a friend, they will give it to you straight. Their humor is not to be missed or confused, as they are quite funny yet it is more of a dry and direct humor. One liners are emphasized here!

Shadow side of Capricorn: aloof, cynical, inflexible, abrupt, melancholy, too cautious and not willing to take risks. They can also be all work, no play and need to be reminded that’s it’s ok to let loose every now and again.

Happy Birthday to all of our Capricorn souls…it’s your season to celebrate?!

On the same day, a celestial turning point is also upon us: The Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. * For our friends in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the Summer solstice.

This day is the shortest amount of daylight, and the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This means that going forward, we can look ahead to increased daylight, which is something to celebrate.

The Winter Solstice is a perfect time to set intentions for the next three months, until we get to the Spring Equinox. Try to look at this as celebratory, instead of depressing. Increased darkness may affect us on the psychological level and we too, can ‘go dark’. We can combat this energy by looking at it as a time to work toward something…it is Capricorn season, after all!

Under the Winter Solstice energy we welcome the practice of slowing down, of reflecting, of honoring our own needs.

We check in with Sol, and more importantly, our soul.

Mercury is currently retrograde in Capricorn, further encouraging us to take in inward, take a breath, to pause and bask in the silence and stillness.

Here’s a ritual you can try to welcome the season of Winter, and also work with the energy of Capricorn.

All you’ll need for this is a candle of your choice, a piece of paper to write your intentions on, and something to carve into your candle with.

Light your candle, relax and do a light meditation if you wish, or simply get comfortable. Write down some intentions for the months ahead. If you need ideas: utilizing Capricorn’s determined energy, ask yourself where you may need more structure, what you would like to get in order, which relationships or money matters need tending to?

This could also be much more personal for you! These are your intentions, so you set the rules. There is no right or wrong here.

Carve words of intention into your candle, (you may want to do this before you light the candle, or else do it very carefully)…remember our words and thoughts carry tremendous power! Now you can either let the candle burn out, or save it and relight over the coming days….totally up to you.

Remember to give special thanks to the angels in this dimension and beyond, that have helped you along on your journey??.
