What are Streams?
A stream is a natural body of running water, such as a river or creek, that flows across land. It empties into an ocean, a lake or another body of water. Streams are powered by gravity as the water flows downhill. They are found on all continents except for Antarctica. Streams carry a variety of sediment, including dissolved minerals, gravel, sands and organic matter like leaves and algae. They can originate from many different sources, including melting snow, springs or runoff from rainstorms and groundwater. The natural flow of a stream is constantly changing with the changing weather and the influx of new material. In comparison to larger bodies of water, such as rivers and oceans. The water in streams tends to move more slowly. This, combined with the deposits of sediment, can create an environment ripe for aquatic life and the development of distinctive friendly habitats for animals. Streams have been enhancing human life since the beginning of time. It is providing us with drinking water, fish, transportation and irrigation as well as energy in more recent centuries. Love my stream.
