Christmas Tree Cupcakes Recipe

I love making cupcakes as an individual dessert. It works perfectly for certain events where you don’t want to cut up a larger cake. These Christmas Tree Cupcakes are great for class parties, holiday parties at home, movie nights and bake sales. The design is so easy that even the kids can get into the kitchen and help out.

The Christmas light sprinkles are adorable and really make the cupcakes. However, they can be hard to find. If you can’t find those particular sprinkles, use M&M Candies that are placed sideways into the cupcakes or round sprinkles that will look like ornaments. Either works well!

For this recipe, you’ll need a muffin baking tray and cupcake liners. Use your favorite cake mix for the cupcake base or homemade vanilla cake batter. I’ll even make some vanilla and some chocolate. How To Tell If Your Cupcakes Are Fully Baked

Stick a toothpick into the center of the tallest cupcake. If it comes out clean, the cupcakes are done! If it comes out with a few crumbs stuck to it, give the cupcakes another minute or two, then test again. Wet batter usually means you need about five more minutes of baking.

Basic Cupcake Baking Tips

Bring ingredients to room temperature. Let eggs and milk come to room temperature for higher and softer cupcakes. Don’t overmix the batter. Mix the batter by hand or with an electric mixer on a low setting. Check Your Oven Temperature. Be accurate before baking by checking your oven’s temperature with an oven thermometer. Don’t open the oven door during baking. Bake cupcakes in the center of your oven. Position your rack in the very center of the oven. Move cupcakes to a wire rack to cool. If you leave the cupcakes in the hot pan they can steam and overcook. Transfer them to a wire rack to cool and finish baking.

How To Store Leftover Cupcakes

Once the cupcakes have been decorated, transfer them to an airtight food storage container. Store them in a place that’s room temperature and away from direct heat. If you like the flavor of them refrigeratred, you can place them in the fridge, but it’s not neccesary.

Can You Freeze Cupcakes?

Yes! These Christmas Tree Cupcakes can be frozen for up to three months. Store them in the back of your freezer where the temperature is more stable. To thaw the cupcakes, let them sit out overnight until they reach room temperature again.
