I’ll be honest, I love Neopolitan style pizza. I love the fresh ingredients and the fact that it is not nearly as greasy as the American style pizza. My favorite thing is how the crust of the Neopolitan pizza gets a slight char to it. If you love these things about pizza too, you will enjoy your visit to Vesuvio Pizzeria Napoletana.
This restaurant is a hidden gem for outsiders like me. However, the place was packed with locals on their lunch break. I live beyond the borders of Kennesaw, so I had no idea how amazing this pizza was. It’s like a little Italian pizzeria was just dropped on the main street in Kennesaw.
This pizza reminded me of something I would get from Campania, only more authentic and a few dollars cheaper.
Vesuvio Pizzeria Napoletana
Vesuvio is located within walking distance from the downtown Kennesaw redevelopment. It is only a couple blocks down Main Street.
The pizzeria is small, yet authentic. Outside is a large patio area. When I visited, the patio was completely full.
Inside is a traditional looking pizzeria, that could be straight out of Napoli. The music was Italian. There was even Italian landscapes playing on the TV’s. It’s like you are transplanted, even though you are still in Kennesaw.
I went inside and ordered. The pizza was ready in just a few minutes.
The Pizza at Vesuvio
The personal size pizza was more than I could handle in one sitting, but I tried my best. I ordered the Pompeii. It had toppings that included san marzano tomatoes that were slices extra thin, mozzarella cheese, salami, dollops of ricotta cheese and basil.
The pizza crust tasted extremely fresh. It was thin and cooked to perfection. The crust was soft, yet had a flavorful char to the taste. Just delicious.
If you are looking for a lot of extras, like an unsweet tea, or all the usual American soda’s, this is not the place. They have a few drinks in the cooler or water available.
However, most people had a beer or a wine. This was surprising since I visited on a work day at noon. Not that I am judging, just jealous.
This pizza is one of the best I have tasted in my exploration of Atlanta restaurants. Stop in and see why!
