Another domino could be about to fall in Atlanta United’s offseason as multiple reports out of Argentina suggest that midfielder Santiago Sosa could be on his way out. Several reporters, including the always reliable Cesar Luis Merlo, let it be known that Racing Club have begun negotiations to try and bring Sosa on loan.

While it doesn’t seem like the deal is close to being done, the early details indicate it would be a one-year loan move with an option to buy.
This possible moves makes all the sense in the world for every party involved. Sosa is in need of a change of scenery after falling out of favor with Gonzalo Pineda. A need for minutes could see him return to his native Argentina with a Racing Club side that has done business with Atlanta United several times in the past.
Sosa only appeared 17 times for the club in 2023, starting in only 11 matches. He also occupies a valuable U22 initiative slot that the club would benefit greatly from freeing up. All the signs point to him having a new team to play with next season, we’ll just have to wait and see if this particular move materializes.
