�If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.� This quote, commonly attributed to Benjamin Franklin, is applicable in many areas of life. I believe one of those areas is our Bible reading plan. Many good New Year�s resolutions to read Scripture have failed because of lack of direction. You may choose to read through the whole Bible in a year or two, or you may strive to focus in on either the Old or New Testament. Others may tackle a single book of the Bible to read and study throughout the year. Whatever you decide, I would encourage you to find a plan and discipline yourself to stick to it. If we neglect the spiritual discipline of reading God�s Word, our spiritual growth will be stunted, we won�t be as sensitive to the Holy Spirit�s work, and we are more in danger to fall into sin or false ways of thinking.

The last three years I have done the Five-Day Bible Reading Program. It provides a schedule that allows me to read through the Bible with built in �catch up� days. I learned of this plan through Tim Challies and you can read his thoughts about it here.

If you�d like other options, Ligonier has put together a vast selections of plans that might work for you. A few examples include reading the whole Bible in a year, reading it chronologically, reading it in two years, as well as many others!
