The Flower Farm (Applemore Bay #2)
by Rachael Lucas
Publication date: February 14, 2022
Summary:
Beth Fraser is a single mum of twins with a blooming flower farm business. The last thing she needs is Jack MacDonald landing with a crash in the middle of her precious baby plants – so it’s no surprise that they get off to a rocky start.
Beth’s spent the last few years growing her business, turning the overgrown walled garden of Applemore House into a beautiful and productive flower farm. Everything is going perfectly well – yes, her friends think she needs to find someone new, and no, she has no intention of looking – until her ex husband drops the bombshell that she’s going to have to find a way to make it pay more – and fast.
City boy Jack McDonald arrives in Applemore with something to prove. He’s carrying a secret from his past which drives him on, and he’s determined to make his new outdoor adventure centre a success. With his neighbour Beth unimpressed by his arrival, he’s the talk of the little coffee shop in the village. Can he find a way to show Applemore that the work he’s doing with troubled teens is vital – and will he acknowledge that what Beth thinks of him matters more than he’d care to admit?

Thoughts:
“The Flower Farm” is another cosy read from Rachael Lucas and the Applemore Bay series. Book two follows Beth Fraser, sister of Lachlan from book one. Beth is newly single, a mum of twins and she has a flower business in the Highlands. She certainly has a lot on her plate!
Having transformed overgrown gardens into a flower producing business, Beth is keen to increase profits and overall success. Then Jack McDonald arrives and everyone seems to be talking about him but Beth isn’t quite as impressed.
The Fraser family each have strong personalities and it was nice to be able to revisit them in this book. The relationships and friendships in this story are lovely and make for a really feel good read. I enjoy the setting and feel at home reading about Applemore and its surroundings. With likeable characters and a cute storyline, this is a nice read.
I would agree with my former self, reviewing The Winter Cottage, that the story isn’t particularly memorable, but it’s still enjoyable and kept me entertained on my daily commute for a few days. Cosy and feel-good, what’s not to like really?
Overall rating: I enjoyed “The Flower Farm” by Rachal Lucas. A nice cosy read that kept me entertained for a few days in audiobook format. Not overly memorable, but a really cute 3 star read.
