Every so often we’re gifted a trend that’s just so wearable and effortless that it makes getting dressed a pleasure and a breeze. Enter the matching set. Love them. Can’t get enough. I’ve got a matching set in various iterations, from shirts and pants to tops and shorts to pyjama-style slinky numbers to beautiful breathable linen. It’s so easy to incorporate it into your wardrobe repertoire and it always helps an outfit look ultra polished. Here are a few other reasons why this is definitely one trend you can’t afford to miss.
Versatility plus!
There’s so much you can do with a matching set. It makes for such a versatile addition to any wardrobe. They’re easily dressed up or down as the co-ordinating factor makes it just feel dressy without having to do much at all. You can dial it up with some glam accoutrements like a statement necklace or earrings, or you can make it casual with the addition of a pair of sandals or slides and understated accessories.
It’s an antidote to a wardrobe crisis
If you’ve woken up on the wrong side of the sartorial bed and absolutely nothing looks right in your closet, it’s a matching set to the rescue. You don’t need to think about styling it or fussing around with separates and you’re ready to walk out the door in minutes. When I’m having one of those days, I throw on some gold jewellery like a necklace or statement earrings, a great sandal or heel and I’m set.
Wear it in place of a dress
If a dress if usually your go-to for an event, then consider swapping it out for a dressy co-ordinating set (kinda like this one). Opt for a set in a beautiful satin or silk, pop on a pair of heels and great jewellery and you’re done. The upside of this is that you have two dressy pieces that you can wear separately and repurpose into another outfit.
It’s a great travel go-to
As I said above, worn together a set looks perfectly put-together but you can also turn it into a different look by pairing it with something else in your closet. The beauty in this is that you can bring one set, but wear it with a basic you’ve already packed like a t-shirt or tank or a pair of pants or shorts and you’ve got yourself a new look.
