Dress Code : Glam with a nod to the 80s. What I wore to the 2019 NGV Gala…
DRESS CODE: Glam with a nod to the 80s…
Celebrating the arrival of world exclusive exhibition: Keith Haring | Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines, The National Gallery of Victoria hosted the annual NGV Gala event over the weekend.
As an homage to two of the most significant and influential artists of the late twentieth century, I partnered with the incredibly talented Marquise Bridal, to create a gown equal parts glamour to equal parts 80s party.
The result, a sculptural polka dot mini dress from the front, a bow/train spectacular from the back, even the Material Girl herself (cough Madonna) would be proud of.
Now as dramatic as a 3 meter train is for a gala, it’s not always the most practical when it comes time to hit the dance floor, so as a stroke of genius, Marquise, made the train detachable, so the glamour was there upon arrival, and with a simple unbuttoning, it disappeared by the time Salt N Pepa (yes the iconic 80s girl band) arrived to perform.
Here is my photo diary from my favourite event on the social calendar, the NGV Gala 2019.
