Australian fashion enterprise One of Twelve has launched a brand new range of silk scarves and twillies in collaboration with legendary Western Desert art cooperative, Papunya Tula Artists.
Established in 2018, One of Twelve is dedicated to celebrating contemporary Australian art and promoting practicing artists. One of Twelve works collaboratively with Aboriginal art centres to translate original artworks into limited-edition collections of luxury silk apparel.
“I’ve always been a great admirer of Papunya Tula Artists, so I am thrilled to finally embark on a collection with them!” said One of Twelve owner and founder, Anna Saboisky.
Papunya Tula Artists is entirely Aboriginal-owned and directed by the Pintupi artists of the Western Desert. The enterprise represents around 80 artists, with its primary gallery space in Alice Springs.
The Papunya Tula painting style evolved from artists translating traditional, ceremonial sand and body designs onto canvas.
One of Twelve X Papunya Tula Artists features designs by such creative luminaries as George Tjungurrayi, Willy Tjungurrayi, and the late Naata Nungurrayi, whose masterpieces grace the walls of major institutions around the world.
Papunya Tula Artists works will adorn a curated collection of silk scarves, both our signature oversized and our new product offering, the silk twilly.
