Which town or city in Australia has got the best and brightest climate project going? It’s official – the City of Mitcham SA, Community Renewables Program devised in partnership with ShineHub, takes out the Climate Council’s 2023 Cities Power Partnership Community Choice Award and the Renewable Energy Achievement Award.

The Renewable Energy Achievement award showcases the top renewable energy programs in the past year from Councils around Australia. Judged by an expert panel of energy and sustainability experts, the Mitcham Renewable Energy Program was selected as a game changing initiative for Australia’s renewable energy future.

Even more impressive, Mitcham also took out the Community Choice Award.  Drawing entries from member councils across Australia this award recognises outstanding council-led initiatives in the sustainability space, across a range of categories.

With 8 fantastic projects in the running, the public vote is in!  Mitcham took out the top honours by a landslide, a testament to the fact that Council Solar Programs like the Mitcham Renewables Program are highly desired and respected, and key to promoting renewable energy adoption at scale.  You can read more about the Community Renewables Program and the awards here
