Product Appeal of a Sand Free Beach Towel
Tesalate Towels Australia had the idea to create a revolutionary towel that leaves the sand at the beach. Like many product creations, this idea came about from personal experience where at the end of a beach day their towel was heavy, wet, and of course sandy! With this problem came the making of a product that made going to the beach easier, while looking stylish.
With four family members, we always took numerous towels with us to the beach. That in turn meant we collected a mountain of sand that found its way into the car and back home. For this reason, I knew the Tesalate towel was a product that regular beachgoers needed to test.

Features of the Tesalate Towel
Design
If you decide to buy a Tesalate Towel, the hardest part will be choosing the design. They have an extensive collection of beautiful patterns to choose from and the company stays ahead of the trends by adding new designs to its range.
We have the ‘Two Palms’ and ‘Cali Sunset’ designs, as both have a tropical element. Usually, you would expect a slight colour difference from what you see online, but I was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy of the colours and patterns.
The soft pastels are vibrant, and the patterns are high quality. Each towel is double-sided with the reverse having the signature black & white triangle pattern that the company is known for.

Feel
What are the Tesalate towels made of? The Tesalate towels are made with special Absorblite™ fabric. This fabric will not have the same feel as your everyday cotton beach towel, however, I still find the towels to be soft.
The difference in fabric has the benefit of being lightweight compared to our regular beach towels. It can also be folded or rolled much smaller, making them more portable.
Size
The Tesalate beach towel is 160cm x 80cm. Compared to other beach towels, it is longer than most but narrow in comparison.
If you love an oversized towel, Tesalate has also created a double-size beach blanket, perfect for a couple or family. The square towel is 160cm x 160cm.
The kids will not miss out! Tesalate has introduced a kid’s towel to their range. These towels are 148 cm x 72 cm. They have all the same features in fabulous designs kids will love.
Functionality
Now we get down to the all-important questions. Does the Tesalate towel live up to its promise of being sand free, absorbent, compact and light with rapid-dry technology?
Overall, I would say that it does, but I will go into more detail on each below.
Sand Free
The sand-free test was conducted on the towel when it was dry and also after it was wet. When the towel is dry and covered with sand, you can flick the towel, and the sand will easily slip off.
After the towel was wet, you needed to use a little more force, but you could still remove the sand from the towel. Upon closer inspection, most of the sand was removed apart from some tiny particles you could only see by holding it to the sun.
A bonus is we found the towel removed sand from arms and legs quite easily, unlike other towels.
Absorbency
The towel was extremely absorbent, and once it was wet, it had an almost chamois like feel. We take two towels for a family of four. I’m satisfied with this result as two towels are 50% fewer than we normally pack for a beach outing.
Tesalate has advised the towel is capable of holding up to 1 litre of water without dripping. Due to the absorbent nature of this towel, it is best to use it on dry sand, as we found it absorbed the moisture when placing it down on wet sand.
Compact and Light
For a standard size towel, it does amaze me how light the Tesalate towel is to carry around. The fabric of the Tesalate towel allows me to roll up the towel making it compact and easily portable.
To find a towel that is light and compact is a great advantage. Once the towel was wet, it was heavier, but we did not find the weight excessive.
Rapid-Dry Technology
I wasn’t convinced with the rapid-dry feature of the towel. The best way to dry the towel after use is to hang it on the clothesline. On different occasions, when the towel was used sporadically between swims, it was normally hung up under our beach umbrella to dry off slightly. I found the Tesalate towel didn’t dry any quicker (if not slower) than other standard beach towels.
Durability
It is important when choosing a towel to consider the main use and the environment as you want to ensure you receive longevity from the product.
A towel, in particular, a beach towel, not only has the sand and seawater to contend with but also needs to withstand a washing cycle. The directions on the label advise washing in a cold-water cycle, separate from other items and on a slow spin. Leave to dry on the line, do not tumble dry.
With a standard cotton towel, these tend to wear thin or pill over time. Our Tesalate beach towels have now seen multiple summers, and they remain in very good condition.
Tip: I don’t wash the towel after each beach outing, it is air-dried outside, and when it is washed, I always follow the directions advised.
Storage
Once the towel is ready to be packed away, you can fold the towel into a small and compact size. This is perfect if you are travelling and want to take one in your carry bag or suitcase. I have not used the free pouch that comes with the towel. You may have more patience than me with trying to fit the towel back into the pouch.

We have all seen that familiar beach scene where people are carrying multiple bags, a beach shade and many towels.
I believe Tesalate has solved these woes with its lightweight and compact design that can easily fit into a beach bag. The towel is highly absorbent which eliminates the number of towels we need to take, and its specialised fabric makes it easy to leave the sand at the beach.

Gym / Yoga / Pilates – everyone knows good gym etiquette involves carrying a towel with you. The company has created a specific gym towel for this reason, or use your beach towel. Travel – all travellers know that a lightweight towel that folds up small enough to place in a carry bag will be your new best friend. Picnic – more than a towel but a blanket between you and the grassy hill. Blanket – place it in your car so you’ll have it on hand at all times to use as a shawl or blanket.
Price
The cost of the Tesalate towel is higher compared to an average cotton towel, but as I described above this towel is far from average. The functionality and diversity of this towel are what sets it apart from others.
