Okay, so I have neglected this little space of mine on the internet lately. Since returning from our half lap of Australia life has been hectic. I have been too busy chauffeuring children around and working, I have hardly had time to sit down and give you a life update.
We absolutely loved life on the road and didn’t want to return home. I could have kept travelling and exploring more of this wonderful country. I was in a real funk when I got back. The weather was awful, I was sick and I had a hard time settling back into life.
One morning on our trip I was up early walking to the beach to watch the sunrise at Kooljaman, Cape Leveque in the Kimberley. In the stillness and quiet, I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I returned home. I wanted to get back into the travel industry. I have missed the fast-paced, exciting world of travel.
The idea seemed crazy as covid had decimated the travel industry. Many wholesalers and travel agents had closed down. Yet I felt like this is the path I needed to follow.
Not long after we got home and the kids were settled into school I managed to score a job with a travel wholesaler working in the Products Department. For those of you who are not familiar with wholesalers, they are basically the middle man. Travel agents book with wholesalers who put the travel packages together.
It is great to be back and it is never too late to believe in new beginnings. If you have an idea and it has been hanging around for a while make sure you go after your dream! Who knows, it may not be the right path for you but it often leads to other opportunities.
The kids slipped straight back into school not missing a beat. I do however feel like I have over-committed them with all their sporting activities. Between work and running them around it leaves little me time! (I am writing this in the car while I am waiting for Gymnastics to finish) I know it is not forever but I yearn for those simple days on the road. A time when I didn’t know the date, what day or time it was, we just lived in the moment.
Maybe we should hit the road again or buy some land and live a simple life. In the meantime, we have an off-road trip planned for Easter. I can wait to get out bush and enjoy the stillness.
In other news, we have been dog sitting Biggie for three months. He slotted right into our family, it is like he has always been here. Everywhere we go people tell us how handsome he is! The kids have thoroughly enjoyed having a dog again so it was heartbreaking when his time with us ended. Biggie is off on a road trip around oz so we will be sure to follow his adventures. Who knows maybe it is time to get another dog?
In our free time, we are making the most of Perth’s outdoor lifestyle. Plenty of walks along the coast, swimming, cycling and kayaking. I must say I do love this city.
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in, say hi and let you know that we are still around. Have a great Easter and I hope the Easter bunny finds you! If you are going away be sure to take care on the roads.
