After 3 holidays and permanent living in Australia, I’ve seen a lot of Australia. But my Australian bucketlist is still very long, there is so much to discover. Today I would like to share my top 5 places in Australia that are very high on my bucketlist. Places that I want to visit very soon and want to highlight on this website.

1. Daintree Rainforest (Queensland)

The last time I was in Cairns I visited Kuranda (rainforest). I would very much like to travel a bit higher and visit Daintree Rainforest. This national park has been on my list for years, I am very curious about the nature and wildlife. I have heard many good stories from other travellers about Daintree National Park. When I’m at Daintree, I also like to visit places like Port Douglas and Cape Tribulation. Who knows, maybe soon!

2. Kimberley (Western Australia)

The Kimberley is one of the nine regions of Western Australia and is very high on my list. According to Australians, this huge area full of impressive nature is a real must visit. Many people say it’s one of the most beautiful places in Australia. The enormous rocks and many waterfalls are really an experience to see. I can’t wait to go to the Kimberley.

3. Albany & surroundings (Western Australia)

Albany is the southernmost city in Western Australia and is not one of Australia’s most famous places. During a search on the internet I came across this city and area. I found out that the coastline and nature here is really impressive. For example: there is Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve, where you can make beautiful hikes. The surroundings are characterised by the bright blue water, rocks of all sizes and beautiful flora & fauna. I hope to visit Albany and surroundings one day.

4. Arnhemland (Northern Territory)

Arnhemland is an area in the northwest of the Australian Northern Territory. This area is mainly known for its unspoilt nature and authentic Aboriginal culture.

Many travellers choose to visit Kakadu National Park and do not travel further east towards Arnhemland. According to Australians this is a shame, because Arnhemland really is a gem and definitely worth a visit. I am also very curious about this area, that’s the reason why I put it on my Australian bucketlist.

5. Kangaroo Island (South Australia)

A visit to Kangaroo Island in South Australia was actually planned for December 2019, when we were heading towards Adelaide. But I removed it from the list, because a visit to the island did not fit our schedule because of our travel days.

In spring 2020, when Kangaroo Island hit hard by the bushfires, I was a little annoyed that we did not go there after all. Until I realised that it was precisely now (after these huge devastating fires) the moment that I have to visit the island. . The people on the island need tourists and online attention right now. Hopefully it will soon be possible for us to travel south and visit Kangaroo Island. I can’t wait to help these people and discover this beautiful island.
